Mann to Present Punjab’s Development Report at NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting

Gurpreet Singh :- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will participate in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on June 11, where he is expected to present a comprehensive account of the state government’s achievements across key sectors.

Ahead of the meeting, the Punjab Government has begun compiling data on its major initiatives and policy outcomes. The presentation is likely to focus on reforms undertaken in education, agriculture, healthcare, industrial development and anti-drug efforts over the past few years.

In the education sector, the state is expected to highlight improvements in government school infrastructure and learning facilities. The government maintains that these measures have led to a significant increase in enrolment in government schools, with many parents opting for public institutions over private schools.

Punjab is also preparing a report on developments in the agriculture sector, particularly efforts to enhance canal water irrigation and reduce dependence on groundwater. Measures aimed at crop residue management and the resulting decline in farm fire incidents are expected to feature prominently in the state’s presentation.

Healthcare initiatives, including the functioning of Aam Aadmi Clinics and the Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme, will also be showcased. The government is likely to present details of expanded healthcare services, improvements in public hospitals and efforts to strengthen medical infrastructure across the state.

The Chief Minister may also outline the government’s strategy to attract investment, facilitate industrial growth and generate employment opportunities. Recent industrial policies and investment proposals are expected to be projected as indicators of Punjab’s economic progress.

Sources indicate that the state government will also brief the Council on its campaign against drug abuse. In addition, Punjab is expected to raise concerns over the release of pending Rural Development Fund allocations and seek a special industrial package on the lines of incentives available to hill states.

The Governing Council meeting will bring together Chief Ministers from across the country to discuss development priorities, governance initiatives and issues requiring coordination between the Centre and the states.
