Delhi Court Sends Hotel Owner to Four Days’ Police Custody Following Fatal Malviya Nagar Blaze

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): A Delhi court on Thursday remanded hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj to four days of police custody following a devastating fire at a hotel in the Malviya Nagar area that claimed 21 lives and left dozens injured. Judicial Magistrate Bhanu Pratap Singh accepted the Delhi Police’s request for custodial interrogation to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Law enforcement officials have registered a case against the owner under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder, offence of mischief by fire, wrongful damage of property, and acts of negligence endangering human life and safety. Investigators are looking closely into potential safety violations at the establishment.

The fire broke out early Wednesday morning at the Flourish Stay B&B, spreading rapidly through the building. Many of the casualties included foreign nationals who were residing at the hotel while their relatives underwent medical treatment at nearby healthcare facilities. While official forensic and administrative inquiries are underway, authorities confirmed that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be definitively ascertained.
