Toronto (Rajeev Sharma): The Indo-Canada business community gathered for a successful CHCC–IABC-SME Business Networking Event, where Mahaveer Singhvi attended as the Chief Guest and engaged with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and a distinguished delegation of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) representatives from India.

During his keynote address, Consul General Singhvi underscored the vital role of SMEs in strengthening economies worldwide. He noted that small and medium-sized enterprises serve as the backbone of economic growth by driving innovation, generating employment, fostering entrepreneurship, and building resilient supply chains.

Highlighting the growing economic partnership between India and Canada, Singhvi emphasized the strong complementarities between the two countries. He stated that India’s scale, skilled talent pool, robust digital infrastructure, and expanding manufacturing capabilities align well with Canada’s strengths in innovation, advanced technologies, capital markets, clean energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, agriculture, and life sciences.

The Consul General also referred to the positive momentum created by the recent visit of Piyush Goyal, noting that the engagement has opened new avenues for deeper economic cooperation. He expressed optimism that a future Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) could further unlock opportunities in trade, investment, technology collaboration, and SME partnerships between the two nations.

Encouraging businesses to think beyond conventional trade relationships, Singhvi called for greater focus on joint ventures, innovation-driven partnerships, and integrated value chains that can create long-term value for both countries. He emphasized that the future of India–Canada economic cooperation lies in building stronger institutional and business-to-business linkages that promote sustainable growth and prosperity.

The event provided an important platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and exploring new avenues of collaboration between Canadian and Indian enterprises. Participants engaged in productive discussions on emerging business opportunities, market expansion strategies, and cross-border partnerships.

Organizers from the Indo-Canadian business community welcomed the Consul General’s vision and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic ties. The event concluded with a shared commitment to building a robust India–Canada SME corridor that supports innovation, investment, entrepreneurship, and mutual economic success for both nations.
