Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has launched a sharp attack on the Punjab government, describing the law-and-order situation in the neighboring state as deeply alarming. Speaking to journalists during his visit to Kapurthala on Sunday, Saini accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of failing to fulfill the promises it made to the public and claimed that the state government has been completely unsuccessful in addressing regional development and security challenges.
The Chief Minister alleged that the recent local body elections in Punjab witnessed a total breakdown of law and order, which raises serious questions about the state’s democratic system. Saini claimed that by opting for ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines, the Punjab administration demonstrated a clear fear of defeat. He further charged that under the current regime, gangsterism has model-flourished across Punjab, creating a widespread sense of insecurity among ordinary citizens.
Saini also criticized the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign, “War on Drugs”, characterizing it as a public relations exercise rather than an effective policy. He noted that the initiative failed to deliver expected results on the ground, leaving the youth vulnerable due to a lack of concrete administrative action. In contrast, the Chief Minister highlighted the governance model of Haryana’s “double-engine” administration, pointing to healthcare integrations like the Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu schemes that offer free treatment to lakhs of families.
Concluding his address, Saini alleged a political alignment between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, stating that both political entities share an identical ideology. He asserted that the people of Punjab are increasingly losing faith in mere announcements and are turning towards the development-focused policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing confidence that voters will favor accountability and governance in upcoming political cycles.
