New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of the deceased, in connection with the high-profile Twisha Sharma death case. According to sources close to the development, the arrest was made following intensive questioning regarding allegations of dowry harassment, physical abuse, and conspiracy leading to the tragic demise.
The central investigating agency took over the probe recently following widespread public outrage and demands for justice from the victim’s family, who alleged that local law enforcement had initially compromised the investigation. Twisha Sharma was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her matrimonial home, sparking allegations of systemic domestic abuse. Family members maintained that she was subjected to continuous mental and physical torture by her in-laws, who were allegedly demanding additional dowry and assets.
CBI officials stated that Giribala Singh was taken into custody after investigators found significant inconsistencies in her statements during interrogation. The agency is currently examining digital forensics, call logs, and financial records to establish a timeline of events leading up to the death. Forensic teams are also re-evaluating initial medical reports to rule out foul play or structural tampering with evidence. The accused is expected to be produced before a special CBI court, where the agency will seek her custody for further custodial interrogation to uncover the involvement of other family members.
