Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday highly commended the Punjab Police for neutralizing a sophisticated international cyber-terrorism syndicate and arresting its prime operative from West Bengal. Addressing a press conference in Amritsar, senior AAP Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal revealed that the apprehended individual was the mastermind behind multiple highly sensitive bomb threats issued to the Punjab Civil Secretariat, the State Legislative Assembly, and Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). Dhaliwal asserted that the Bhagwant Mann-led administration remains uncompromised on its founding commitment to crush any anti-national elements attempting to disrupt peace, execute firing incidents, or trigger communal disharmony across the state.
The investigation indicates that cyber-terrorism has rapidly transitioned into a severe national security challenge, characterized by a spate of hoax bomb threats directed at prominent educational institutions and government establishments. The arrested 30-year-old suspect operated as a vital node in an expansive digital grid with deep logistical footprints stretching into Pakistan and Bangladesh. Using advanced virtual private networks, encrypted emails, and specific WhatsApp groups, the syndicate systematically triggered widespread panic across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Dhaliwal emphasized that track-and-trace operations in cyber-terrorism are uniquely complex given that perpetrators can camouflage their digital coordinates anywhere globally, making the Punjab Police’s successful cross-border breakthrough exceptionally remarkable. He reassured residents of Punjab that there is absolutely no need for panic, stating that the law enforcement machinery is fully equipped to protect every citizen.
Shifting the focus to ongoing border security management and the anti-narcotics campaign, the AAP legislator highlighted that the current state administration has launched unprecedented crackdowns to imprison high-profile drug lords who previously operated with political impunity under past regimes. Given the evolving nature of hybrid warfare, Dhaliwal issued a formal appeal to the Central Government to urgently modernize security infrastructure along Punjab’s 332-kilometre international border. He urged the Union Ministry to equip the Border Security Force personnel stationed along the frontline with cutting-edge anti-drone technology, high-resolution thermal surveillance systems, and specialized tactical weaponry to effectively neutralize the persistent threat of cross-border smuggling via unmanned aerial vehicles.
