Breaking: Fuel Price Rise as Global Oil Shock Hits India, PM Modi Calls for Reduced Vehicle Use

News Alert

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): fresh surge in fuel prices has hit consumers across India as instability in the Middle East continues to disrupt global crude oil markets. The revised rates have pushed petrol prices up by Rs 3 per litre, moving from Rs 94.77 to Rs 97.77, while diesel has climbed from Rs 87.67 to Rs 90.67 per litre.

The increase follows rising international crude prices triggered by escalating tensions in key oil-producing regions. Analysts say uncertainty over supply routes and production levels has forced importing nations to brace for higher energy costs, with India among the countries feeling the impact.

Responding to the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving practices and avoid unnecessary travel. In his recent appeal, he encouraged people to work from home whenever possible and limit the use of personal vehicles to essential trips.

The Prime Minister highlighted that careful fuel consumption during this period would help the country manage resources more efficiently and reduce dependence on expensive imports. He also called upon organisations and private companies to support remote work arrangements to lower daily fuel demand.

The hike has triggered concern among transporters, daily commuters, and small business owners, many of whom fear a ripple effect on transportation charges and the prices of basic goods.

Experts believe that unless the geopolitical situation stabilises soon, fuel prices may remain under pressure, placing additional strain on household budgets and the broader economy.
