Gurpreet Singh :- A youth from Jalandhar, identified as Akash, who had been stranded in Malaysia for nearly two weeks, has finally returned safely to India following the intervention of Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. The family, after meeting the MP upon Akash’s return, expressed gratitude for the timely support extended during what they described as one of the most difficult phases of their lives.
According to family members, the prolonged uncertainty had created an atmosphere of anxiety at home as they struggled to secure assistance for Akash’s return. They said their hopes had begun to fade before Seechewal stepped in and coordinated efforts to facilitate his safe arrival back in the country.
Akash was reportedly travelling back to India from New Zealand when complications related to travel documentation led to his detention in Malaysia. Sources said he remained stuck at the airport for several days before being shifted to a detention centre by local authorities.
Recalling his ordeal after returning home, Akash said the experience was mentally exhausting and emotionally distressing. He stated that spending several days in uncertain conditions at the airport and later in detention had left him deeply shaken.
He further stressed the need for stronger support systems for Indians facing emergencies abroad so that others do not have to endure similar hardships in foreign countries.
The family has also appealed to the Central Government and concerned agencies to ensure quicker intervention mechanisms for Indian nationals stranded overseas due to documentation or immigration-related issues.
