Tehran (Rajeev Sharma): India has successfully ensured the safe movement of another LPG tanker through the sensitive Strait of Hormuz, with MV Sunshine now progressing toward the country under close coordination from Indian security and maritime agencies, sources said.
Officials confirmed that the vessel is the 15th liquefied petroleum gas shipment headed for India to safely exit the Persian Gulf despite the tense security environment in West Asia. The Indian Navy, along with other concerned agencies, is said to be actively assisting in monitoring and facilitating the vessel’s secure transit.
The operation comes as concerns remain high over shipping routes in the Gulf region, which are crucial for global energy supplies and trade movement.
Amid the situation, Iran has expressed confidence that stability in the Strait of Hormuz will improve significantly once regional peace efforts gain momentum. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, speaking in New Delhi, said normalcy would restore transparency and safety across the strategic maritime corridor.
He maintained that Tehran’s actions would remain within international legal frameworks and stressed that sustainable peace would guarantee stronger security for all commercial traffic passing through the route.
The Iranian diplomat also suggested that diplomatic engagement from Washington lacked seriousness, while reiterating Tehran’s readiness to support peaceful negotiations.
Ahead of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ gathering in New Delhi, Gharibabadi praised India’s measured diplomatic approach and said any initiative undertaken by New Delhi to calm tensions would receive Iran’s full support.
Describing India and Iran as deeply connected through historical and cultural bonds, he said both nations share a relationship rooted in trust and mutual respect.
India’s continued monitoring of energy shipments reflects its focus on protecting vital supply chains while also maintaining a careful diplomatic balance as tensions persist across West Asia.
