Rajeev Sharma :- The portals of the Kedarnath Temple were ceremonially opened on Wednesday, signalling the commencement of the annual Char Dham Yatra and drawing devotees from across the country to one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed pilgrims on the occasion and extended his greetings, expressing hope for a safe and spiritually enriching journey for all visitors.
The reopening ceremony was conducted with traditional rituals and Vedic chants, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere. Earlier, the ceremonial procession carrying the deity’s palanquin from its winter seat at Omkareshwar Temple had already attracted a large number of devotees to the region.
Authorities have implemented comprehensive security and administrative measures to ensure smooth management during the pilgrimage season. Officials have prohibited the use of mobile phones, drones and videography within the temple premises in order to maintain the sanctity of the shrine, and pilgrims have been urged to strictly adhere to these guidelines.
Enhancing the festive spirit, the temple has been adorned with large quantities of flowers sourced from within the country as well as overseas, adding to the grandeur of the ancient shrine and captivating visitors.
Meanwhile, pilgrims have been advised to remain cautious about the prevailing weather conditions, as temperatures in the high-altitude region continue to remain low due to recent snowfall. Visitors have been urged to carry adequate warm clothing and follow safety instructions.
The Char Dham Yatra, covering Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, is among the most significant religious pilgrimages in India, attracting a massive influx of devotees each year.
