Firing near Ferozepur border leaves 12-year-old girl injured, condition critical

Gurpreet Singh :- Panic gripped a border village in Ferozepur after unidentified assailants opened fire outside a house, leaving a 12-year-old girl critically injured. The incident occurred in Pacharia village, where the victim was struck by a bullet while standing near the gate of her residence.

According to family members, the girl had just stepped out after bathing when gunshots were heard. Initially mistaking the sound for firecrackers, the family soon realised something was wrong when they found the child injured. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Ferozepur, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

The family maintained that they have no known enmity with anyone and expressed shock over the incident.

Police officials, however, suspect the firing may be linked to a personal dispute. Preliminary investigation suggests that two individuals had fired shots in the air, and one of the bullets deflected and hit the girl.

A senior police officer said a case has been registered and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused. Some suspects are being questioned, and further investigation is in progress.

The incident has once again raised concerns over rising firing incidents in the region, particularly in border areas, where cases linked to personal rivalry and criminal activity have been reported in recent times.
