Secretary, Chandigarh State Agricultural Marketing Board Inspects New Mandi Site in Sector 39

Chandigarh (Naval Kishore): Shri Mansoor Mohammad, IAS, Secretary, State Agricultural Marketing Board, Chandigarh visited the Sector 39 Mandi site today to review the existing infrastructure and assess the steps required to operationalize the new mandi at the earliest.

During the visit, the Secretary conducted a detailed inspection of the site and reviewed the available infrastructure. He interacted with the technical staff of the Board to understand the current status and requirements. The SCO sites in the fruit and vegetable market were thoroughly inspected, along with the grain market area constituting the second phase of the mandi.

The Secretary issued several directions to expedite the development and readiness of the mandi. He directed officials to undertake repainting of the existing sheds and to level the SCO sites in the fruit and vegetable market that are under the e-auction process. To prevent dumping of waste and encroachments, instructions were given to install chain-link fencing at vulnerable and easily accessible points around the site.

Further, directions were issued for the reconstruction of damaged portions of the boundary wall and for clearing bushes from the grain auction shed area to ensure cleanliness and usability of the premises.

Emphasizing the need for administrative presence on-site, the Secretary also directed the establishment of a temporary office of the Mandi Board at the new mandi location to facilitate smooth coordination and monitoring of ongoing works.

The visit underscores the Board’s commitment to making the New Mandi in Sector fully functional in a timely and efficient manner, thereby providing improved facilities to farmers, traders, and stakeholders.
