Gurpreet Singh :- Three Punjab Police personnel have been placed under line duty following allegations of misconduct with a woman in Jalandhar, after a video of the incident surfaced on social media, triggering public outrage. The action was taken after visuals purportedly showed the woman being mishandled during a police intervention.
According to initial information, the police team had reached the spot in connection with a domestic dispute complaint. However, the situation reportedly escalated, leading to a confrontation between the woman and the officers. Allegations suggest that the personnel used excessive force, further intensifying the matter.
The viral video played a key role in bringing the incident into the spotlight, prompting senior officials to initiate immediate departmental action against the accused personnel.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Punjab State Women’s Commission has issued a notice and sought a detailed report from the police authorities. The Commission has also directed that a fair and impartial inquiry be conducted and asked the concerned officials to appear with all relevant records on the scheduled date.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, and authorities have indicated that strict action will follow based on the findings of the probe.
