Diplomatic Double-Header: PM Modi Dials Kuwait, NSA Doval Meets US Envoy Amid West Asia Crisis

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh)— India significantly ramped up its diplomatic outreach today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with Kuwaiti leadership and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held high-stakes talks with the US Ambassador. The flurry of activity underscores New Delhi’s growing concern over the volatile security landscape in West Asia and its impact on global energy lifelines. In a significant telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Modi spoke with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. While the Prime Minister extended early greetings for the upcoming festival of Eid, the dialogue quickly shifted to the rapidly evolving situation in the region.

During the call, Modi reiterated India’s strong stance against attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that ensuring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority for India. Both leaders reached a consensus that sustained dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable paths to restoring peace. Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s continued support regarding the safety and welfare of the Indian community residing there. This marks the second high-level interaction between the two leaders this month, following an earlier exchange on March 3.

Simultaneously in New Delhi, the diplomatic corridors saw US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor meeting with NSA Ajit Doval. The meeting comes at a time when regional stability is increasingly under threat. Ambassador Gor described the discussions as extremely fruitful, noting that both sides reviewed critical security and geopolitical challenges. The meeting served to reaffirm the steady advancement of strategic cooperation between India and the United States, particularly as both nations navigate a shared volatile regional environment. The intensified diplomacy arrives as the Strait of Hormuz remains a focal point of global tension. With India relying heavily on the Gulf for energy security, the dual tracks of communication—engaging regional partners like Kuwait and global allies like the US—demonstrate India’s proactive role in seeking a de-escalation of current tensions.
