Trump Imposes 10% Global Tariffs Following Supreme Court Ruling

Donald Trump

Washington D.C ( Bureau).: Immediately after a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court limiting his authority over trade, Donald Trump announced a new executive order imposing 10% tariffs on imported goods from around the world.

The tariff, enacted under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, is set to take effect in three days. Officials confirmed that, under current law, the measure can remain in place for 150 days unless extended by U.S. Congress.

This move comes after the Supreme Court ruled last year that Trump had exceeded his trade authority when imposing broad tariffs without congressional approval. The president defended the action, stating it is necessary to protect American industries and jobs amid ongoing global trade imbalances.

Economic analysts warn the new tariffs could increase costs for U.S. consumers and heighten tensions with trading partners, potentially triggering retaliatory measures. Markets responded cautiously, with major indices showing modest declines amid uncertainty over the economic impact of the policy.

This aggressive trade step signals a continuation of Trump’s protectionist strategy, with experts emphasizing the need for congressional involvement to sustain long-term effects.
