AAP Village Sarpanch Gunned Down at Wedding Ceremony in Punjab’s Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran (Gurpreet Singh): A village Sarpanch was shot dead in a brazen daytime attack during a wedding ceremony in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Tuesday, triggering panic at the venue and prompting a massive police response.
Harbrinder Singh, the elected Sarpanch of Thathian Mahantan village and reportedly linked to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), had reached a private marriage palace to attend the function. According to initial reports, he was sitting with a few acquaintances when two to three armed men allegedly entered the premises and opened fire at close range.
Singh was critically injured in the shooting and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The sudden burst of gunfire created chaos among guests attending the ceremony.
His cousin, Germanjeet Singh, was also hit during the attack and sustained serious bullet injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical.
Senior police officials arrived at the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. The area was sealed, and security was tightened in and around the locality. A manhunt has been launched to track down the assailants. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the marriage palace and nearby establishments, while forensic teams are collecting evidence from the site.
Police said the motive behind the killing has not yet been established and that multiple angles are being explored. Further investigation is ongoing.
