Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): A toddler has died following a collision at a southwest intersection, according to the Calgary Police Service.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hull Avenue S.W. and Horton Road S.W. Police said the child was in a stroller being pushed by two adults in a marked crosswalk when a westbound Jeep Cherokee turned south and struck the stroller.
The toddler was transported to hospital but later succumbed to injuries. The two adults pushing the stroller were not hurt.
Investigators said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating. At this stage, neither speed nor impairment is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Road closures in the area are expected to remain in place for several hours as police continue their investigation.
