New Delhi, February 10: Former Chief of the Indian Army General Manoj Mukund Naravane on Tuesday stated that his memoir, Four Stars of Destiny, has not yet been published in any form. Sharing a clarification on social media platform X, Naravane said that no printed or digital copies of the book have been released to the public so far.
Naravane reposted a statement issued by Penguin Random House India, the official publisher of the memoir, which sought to clear confusion arising from recent public discussion and media reports. The publisher said it holds exclusive publishing rights for the book and confirmed that the memoir has not entered the publication stage.
According to Penguin Random House India, no copies of Four Stars of Destiny have been printed, distributed, sold or made accessible to readers in either physical or electronic formats. The publisher emphasised that the book remains unpublished at present.
The clarification comes amid political controversy after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referred to an earlier social media post by Naravane that mentioned the book being “available now.” Gandhi questioned the publisher’s claim and said he was inclined to trust the former Army Chief’s word over the publishing house.
Responding to the ongoing debate, Penguin Random House India issued another statement on Tuesday, explaining that announcements related to a book or the option to pre-order should not be misunderstood as confirmation of publication. The publisher reiterated that the memoir has not yet been released.
The issue has triggered widespread discussion online, prompting both the author and the publisher to publicly restate the current status of the book to dispel speculation.
