Officials Must Treat Public-Interest Development Works with Utmost Seriousness: Rajesh Nagar

Chandigarh, December 29: Haryana Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Rajesh Nagar, on Sunday reviewed the progress of ongoing development works in Faridabad and directed officials to ensure time-bound and quality execution of projects linked directly to public welfare.

Chairing a review meeting with district officials, the minister assessed works being carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD), Public Health Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA), and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). He stressed that issues affecting daily life must be resolved on priority and accountability fixed for delayed projects.

During the meeting, the condition of PWD roads was discussed in detail. Officials were instructed to expedite repair works and ensure that proposed road construction projects are completed within stipulated timelines while strictly adhering to prescribed quality standards. Nagar said poor-quality or delayed road works cause unnecessary hardship to citizens and will not be tolerated.
Sanitation-related issues in rural areas also figured prominently in the review.

Overflowing ponds, waterlogging, village cleanliness, and regular desilting of drains were discussed, with clear directions issued to strengthen drainage systems and maintain cleanliness to prevent problems during the monsoon and otherwise.

The minister also took note of complaints related to non-functional street lights, especially during night hours, and directed concerned departments to address the issue immediately to ensure public safety.

Taking a firm stand on delays, Nagar expressed displeasure over certain FMDA projects whose deadlines were set for December 30 but remained incomplete. He warned that any negligence or delay attributable to officials would invite strict action, reiterating that development works must not suffer due to administrative laxity.
