Anand Karaj Only in Gurdwaras, AI-Based Films on Sikh Themes Banned: Panj Singh Sahiban Issue Firm Directives

Amritsar, December 28, 2025: In a major step to protect Sikh religious traditions and maryada, the Panj Singh Sahiban on Sunday announced a series of strict resolutions following a high-level meeting held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib under the leadership of Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the Acting Jathedar declared that Anand Karaj ceremonies will be permitted exclusively within Gurdwara premises. He clarified that conducting Sikh marriage ceremonies in parks, hotels, resorts, or any commercial or open venues will no longer be allowed, and the Sikh sangat has been directed to strictly adhere to this decision.
The Panj Singh Sahiban also took a strong stand against the use of artificial intelligence and animation in films based on Sikh religious subjects. It was decided that any film, documentary, or visual content related to Sikh history or the Sikh Gurus must receive prior approval from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). The directive aims to prevent misrepresentation and distortion of Sikh beliefs and heritage.
Another key resolution focused on political interference in Sikh affairs. The Panj Singh Sahiban issued a clear warning to all political parties, including those in power and in opposition, to refrain from meddling in matters related to Sikh institutions and religious traditions. It was stated that continued interference would invite action in accordance with established Sikh principles and traditions.
The meeting was attended by Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Tek Singh, Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Head Granthi Giani Parvinderpal Singh, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Head Granthi Giani Jaginder Singh, and Singh Sahib Giani Keval Singh. All decisions were taken unanimously, and the Sikh community has been urged to respect and implement them in letter and spirit.
