Haryana Police recruits pledge discipline, unity and service to the nation
Chandigarh, December 24:Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday flagged off the ‘Atal Jan Seva Run’ organised by the newly recruited Batch No. 93 of the Haryana Police from Yavanika Park in Sector-5, Panchkula. The run was dedicated to public service and held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the run symbolised unity, discipline and dedication towards national service. He informed that later in the evening, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah would administer the oath to the largest police passing-out batch in the history of Indian policing. The batch comprises 5,061 recruits, including 4,191 men and 870 women, reflecting a significant 20.75 per cent participation of women.
Saini said that in 2014, women’s representation in the Haryana Police stood at just three per cent, which has now crossed 10 per cent. The state government has set a target to raise this figure to 25 per cent in the coming years, marking a strong commitment towards women empowerment.
Highlighting the role of the police in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse, the Chief Minister said the newly trained recruits would act as brand ambassadors in spreading awareness against drugs in society. He added that the run marked the successful completion of 39 weeks of rigorous training and the beginning of translating the values of policing and ‘Karmayogi’ into practice.
The Chief Minister noted that the batch reflected Haryana’s social unity, with 4,252 recruits from rural backgrounds and 809 from urban areas marching together. Nearly 85 per cent of the recruits are graduates or postgraduates, while over half are below the age of 26, bringing fresh energy, modern thinking and efficiency to the police force.
He further said that the run was not merely a physical activity but a demonstration of discipline, self-confidence and strength developed through yoga, physical training and self-defence programmes. He also recalled that the recruits had earlier set an example of social service by donating 1,356 units of blood on April 9, 2025.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister boosted the morale of the recruits by showering flower petals on them. Several dignitaries, including senior police officials, elected representatives and party leaders, were present at the event.
