Haryana Governor Praises Sports Science and Training Excellence at Sports University Convocation in Rai

Chandigarh, December 8 — Haryana Governor and Chancellor Prof. Aseem Kumar Ghosh attended the convocation ceremony of Haryana Sports University in Rai, Sonepat on Sunday, where he awarded degrees to 205 graduating students and commended their outstanding achievements.

First Lady Mitra Ghosh, Vice Chancellor Ashok Kumar, MLA Krishna Gehlawat, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan, Panchjanya editor Hitesh Shankar, Registrar Jaswinder Singh and several distinguished guests were present at the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Ghosh said that excellence in sports today is not limited to physical ability but is the result of science-based training, psychological strength, nutrition, sports psychology and modern technology. He praised the university for adopting a holistic training model that has created a strong sports ecosystem for students.

The Governor congratulated the students and coaches for securing 61 medals, including 13 gold, in national and inter-university competitions. He said Haryana Sports University is rapidly emerging as one of India’s premier sports education institutions and will soon become the country’s third-largest sports university. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the state government is committed to building a robust sports ecosystem.

Referring to ‘Mission Olympic 2036’, Prof. Ghosh said India aims to increase its total medal tally from 7 to 70, while Haryana is working to raise its contribution from 4 medals to 36. He expressed confidence that Haryana Sports University will play a crucial role in achieving this national goal.

A total of 205 students received degrees at the ceremony, including 8 from M.P.Ed. & Sports and 197 from Post Graduate Diploma programmes. Congratulating the graduates, the Governor said their success is a moment of pride for students, families and teachers. He urged students to embrace humility, discipline, inclusion and consistent effort as their companions in the next phase of life and called upon them to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s inclusive development.
