Haryana Strengthens Water Infrastructure to Ensure Safe and Adequate Drinking Supply Across Rural and Urban Areas

Chandigarh, December 6 — The Haryana government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, uninterrupted and adequate drinking water to every household in the state. To achieve this goal, the government has expanded and modernised its water supply infrastructure, ensuring regular access to clean drinking water in both rural and urban regions.

According to officials, the state currently delivers drinking water through 1,870 canal-based waterworks, 12,920 tubewells, 9 ranney wells and 4,140 boosting stations, forming a robust supply network across Haryana.

A spokesperson from the department said several projects have been implemented to maintain seamless water supply. Infrastructure has been strengthened in multiple regions, and old pipelines have been replaced to prevent leakages and disruptions. In Sirsa, water is supplied primarily through the Bhakra Main Line, which ensures adequate and consistent drinking water availability for both rural and urban populations.

The spokesperson further said that all 616 rural areas under the Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency receive 55 litres of water per person per day. Meanwhile, two villages — Dahman and Khara Khedi — currently receive 40 litres per person per day. To increase this supply to 55 litres, a project worth ₹611.90 lakh is underway and is expected to be completed by March 2026.

The government stated that priority-based projects are being fast-tracked to ensure improved water availability for every resident in the region.
