National Times Bureau :- Dr. Sapna Nanda, serving as Associate Professor, has been elevated to the position of the first UPSC-appointed regular Principal of Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh. Her appointment came into effect on December 1, 2025, following official orders issued by the Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration.
Dr. Nanda began her academic journey in 2002 when she was selected as an Assistant Professor through the UPSC. In 2019, she was entrusted with the additional charge of Principal at the Government College of Yoga Health & Education. Later, in 2022, she was again given additional responsibility to oversee the functioning of the Principal’s office at Government College of Education.
Her leadership has significantly contributed to the institution’s growth. Notably, the college secured an A+ grade in the NAAC 3rd Assessment Cycle in 2024, marking a major milestone under her guidance.
Dr. Nanda’s work in the fields of yoga, health, and wellness has earned her several accolades, including a State Award from the Chandigarh Administration in 2021. She has authored multiple books and published numerous research papers. Recently, she also received a Patent for a unique oral synergistic formulation aimed at managing diabetes and related complications, as per the Patents Act, 1970.
Beyond academics, Dr. Nanda actively engages in health and wellness initiatives. She is associated with the Health and Wellness Focus Group of the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation, Sapt Sindhu Foundation, and contributes regularly to the Aahar Kranti Movement of Nivedita Trust.
Her appointment marks a significant step for the college, setting a new benchmark in academic leadership in Chandigarh.
