Eleven Killed, Over 20 Injured as Two State-Run Buses Collide Head-On Near Karaikudi

Karaikudi, November 30, 2025— Eleven people, including eight women, two men and a child, lost their lives on Sunday when two government buses collided head-on about 15 km from Karaikudi, police officials said. All the victims died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

More than 20 passengers sustained injuries and were immediately taken to nearby government hospitals for treatment, a senior district police officer confirmed.

When asked about the cause of the collision, the official said that investigators are still examining the circumstances. “It was a head-on collision, the reason is not clear, we are looking into it,” the officer stated.

Authorities have launched a detailed probe to determine what led to the fatal crash.
