Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will depart for Japan tomorrow on a 10-day international tour aimed at drawing top-tier Japanese companies to invest in the state and participate in Punjab’s upcoming global investor summit.
Officials said the Chief Minister’s schedule includes multiple business meetings across major Japanese cities, where he will showcase Punjab’s industrial potential and pitch opportunities in sectors such as precision manufacturing, automotive components, electronics, food-tech, solar energy, and next-generation green technologies.
The visit follows an extensive virtual conference held three days earlier with a high-powered Japanese delegation. The session brought together representatives from the Embassy of Japan, JETRO, JCCII, and executives from more than two dozen major Japanese enterprises operating in India, including Toyota, NEC, Panasonic, Nippon, and Sumitomo.
Push Ahead of Investor Summit
Punjab has been intensifying its global outreach ahead of the 6th Progressive Punjab Investor Summit, scheduled for March 13–15, 2026, at ISB Mohali. During recent roadshows, the government highlighted the “Invest Punjab Unified Regulatory Model,” a one-stop mechanism designed to streamline clearances by integrating multiple state departments under a single framework.
Previous International Engagements
Mann is no stranger to global investment drives—his 2022 Germany visit resulted in several follow-up discussions with multinational firms. He has also held rounds of meetings with foreign envoys and industry bodies in India to bolster the state’s economic profile.
A similar trip planned for December 2024 did not take place due to lack of approval from the Centre. This tour, officials say, is intended to make up for that missed opportunity and energize Punjab’s investor outreach strategy.
