Punjab Vidhan Sabha to Host Student Mock Session on Constitution Day

Punjab Cabinet Meeting Held After Long Gap, Special Vidhan Sabha Session Scheduled for Feb 24-25

Sri Anandpur Sahib (Gurpreet Singh): Students from across Punjab will step into the roles of lawmakers and ministers today in a unique mock session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. The initiative, led by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, aims to give young learners hands-on experience in democratic processes.

Harkamaldeep Singh will enact the role of Chief Minister, while other participants will take on key positions such as Speaker, Ministers, MLAs, and Opposition members. The exercise is designed to familiarize students with legislative procedures and the functioning of government, combining practical learning with civic education.

This year, the mock session is being conducted at the temporary Punjab Vidhan Sabha in Sri Anandpur Sahib, rather than in Chandigarh, to coincide with Constitution Day on November 26. The session will also pay tribute to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Speaker Sandhwan highlighted the importance of experiential learning, stating that education becomes truly transformative when students are taught not only knowledge but also the skills to participate in civic life.

Government school students from across the state have been selected to participate, reflecting a historic effort to connect classroom education with the workings of a democratic system. The Speaker extended his best wishes to all students, teachers, and parents attending the session, describing it as a milestone in promoting active civic engagement among the youth of Punjab.
