Chandigarh, November 24, 2025: Haryana’s Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhary on Sunday said that the state government remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of its employees. She stated that a rationalisation exercise is underway in the department to streamline both the operation circle and staff duties so that every employee is assigned work according to their designated post. She added that concrete steps are being taken to strengthen the system.
Choudhary emphasised that beldars and canal guards are the backbone of the department. To ensure clear identification in the field, the government will soon introduce separate uniforms for both posts. The minister said this measure will improve coordination and bring greater discipline to field operations.
She made the remarks while chairing a meeting with representatives of the All Haryana PWD Mechanical Employees Union from Charkhi Dadri and Kurukshetra.
During the discussion, Choudhary heard the union’s demands and concerns in detail and assured them that all legitimate issues would be addressed with sympathy and fairness. She added that she would also hold a detailed conversation with Chief Minister Nayab Singh regarding the demands raised.
Highlighting the department’s recent achievements, Choudhary said Haryana secured the third position nationally in water conservation efforts, crediting field employees for their dedication and hard work. She expressed pride in the recognition and said it reflects the vision of her late grandfather, Bansi Lal, whose dream of establishing a strong canal network and lift irrigation system in the state continues to be realised.
Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Aggarwal assured the minister that all decisions and directions issued after the meeting would be swiftly processed and granted administrative and financial approvals from the relevant departments.
Union representatives thanked Minister Shruti Choudhary for listening to their concerns patiently and assuring timely solutions. Senior departmental officials, including Chief Engineers Rakesh Chauhan, Birendra Singh and Dr. Satbir Kadyan, were also present at the meeting.
