CM Nayab Singh Saini Announces Six-Month Relief on Power Bills for Flood-Affected Farmers

Chandigarh, November 4: In a major relief for farmers hit by heavy rains and floods during the 2025 monsoon, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced a six-month deferment of electricity bill payments for agricultural consumers across the state.

Under this special relief measure, payment of electricity bills for agricultural tube well consumers from July to December 2025 has been postponed by six months. The move aims to help farmers recover from the financial strain caused by crop losses and damages due to excessive rainfall and flooding.

According to an Energy Department spokesperson, bills issued in July 2025 will now be payable in January 2026, August bills in February 2026, and December bills in June 2026. This decision is expected to benefit nearly 7.10 lakh agricultural electricity consumers across Haryana.

The spokesperson further stated that during this deferment period, no late payment surcharge will be levied by UHBVN (Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam) and DHBVN (Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam). Electricity supply to farmers will continue uninterrupted, while the state government will bear the financial burden arising from this decision.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting farmers in times of distress. The measure is designed to provide immediate financial relief, allowing affected farmers to restart their agricultural activities without added pressure from utility payments.
