Punjab (Gurpreet Singh): Despite a marginal rise in daytime temperatures, Punjab continues to experience cooler-than-average conditions, with the state’s overall temperature holding at 2.2°C below normal for this time of year. As per the latest update from the Meteorological Centre, no rainfall is expected across Punjab in the coming week, with dry and sunny weather likely to dominate.
The maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was 32.8°C in Bathinda, while most cities hovered around 30°C. Officials noted that in the past 24 hours, there was only a minor temperature increase of 0.4°C, signaling a slow return to typical seasonal levels following the retreat of western disturbances.
Dry Weather to Benefit Agriculture
According to agricultural experts, the current spell of dry weather will benefit paddy cultivation, which was previously impacted by excessive rainfall in September. Many fields are still witnessing delayed crop ripening, and the consistent sunshine is expected to speed up maturity while retaining some soil moisture.
“This weather pattern is ideal for late-stage paddy. The absence of rain combined with moderate warmth during the day allows the grain to dry properly before harvest,” said an agricultural advisor from the state’s farming board.
Mild Temperature Rise Expected
Meteorologists predict that daytime temperatures may see a slight rise of 2–3°C over the next few days. After that, maximum temperatures are likely to stabilize, keeping overall conditions pleasant and suitable for both agriculture and outdoor activities.
Cooler Nights Ahead
While the days remain moderately warm, nighttime temperatures are expected to stay on the cooler side, with most regions currently seeing lows around 18°C. The forecast suggests that night temperatures will remain under 20°C through the coming week, indicating the onset of seasonal chill.
