Barnala (Gurpreet Singh): In a coordinated strike against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, working jointly with Barnala Police, arrested two suspected members of the Bambiha Gang, uncovering a significant arms cache in the process.
The suspects, identified as Sandeep Singh and Sekher, were taken into custody following intelligence inputs about their involvement in illegal arms smuggling. The operation led to the recovery of six pistols, including a PX5, four pistols of .32 bore, one .30 bore pistol, and 19 live cartridges.
Preliminary findings suggest that the weapons were intended for gang members operating at ground level, with plans to execute targeted attacks across the state. Investigators believe the duo was acting under the guidance of handlers based outside India, pointing to the international footprint of the Bambiha network.
“This is a crucial success in our sustained campaign against gun-running and gangster syndicates in Punjab,” said DGP Gaurav Yadav, praising the swift action of both AGTF and Barnala Police. “We are fully committed to eradicating the illegal arms infrastructure that fuels organised crime.”
The arrests have triggered a broader probe aimed at identifying the full chain of operatives—both upstream suppliers and downstream recipients—connected to this weapons pipeline. Authorities are now piecing together the logistics and communications between local actors and foreign-based masterminds.
The Bambiha Gang has been under close surveillance in recent months due to its involvement in violent crimes and its growing links with transnational criminal networks. This latest operation is part of Punjab Police’s larger effort to clamp down on such groups and disrupt their ability to operate within the state.
Officials confirmed that further raids and arrests may follow as investigations continue. The crackdown sends a clear message that the state is intensifying its drive to dismantle armed criminal networks and safeguard public security.
