Barnala, Punjab, October 11, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday urged young people to channel their boundless energy toward positive and constructive goals that contribute to the socio-economic development of the state and the nation.
Speaking at the Regional Youth Festival held at SD College, Barnala, CM Mann called on students to draw inspiration from India’s revolutionary heroes, particularly Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other martyrs, who dedicated their lives to the country’s freedom and welfare. He said their ideals continue to serve as a moral compass for today’s youth to selflessly serve the nation.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s continued efforts to empower the younger generation through employment and skill development. “Just as runways at airports enable airplanes to take off smoothly, the Punjab government is creating platforms for youth to achieve their dreams,” Mann said, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to nurturing the talent and aspirations of young Punjabis.
Encouraging students to remain humble and resilient, Mann advised them to focus on self-improvement rather than pride in success. “Confidence and a positive mindset are essential traits, but humility keeps one grounded,” he remarked, urging youth to pursue excellence through hard work and dedication.
Recalling his own college years, the Chief Minister shared how youth festivals played a pivotal role in shaping his journey from a performer to a public leader. “These festivals help in the all-round personality development of young people. I too began my journey at such events,” he said, encouraging students to make full use of such platforms for personal and professional growth.
Praising Barnala’s contribution to Punjab’s cultural and literary heritage, Mann described the district as the “Literature Capital of Punjab.” He noted that the region has produced many renowned figures, including Sant Ram Udasi, Ram Sarup Ankhi, Om Parkash Gasso, Balwant Gargi, Sewa Singh Thikriwala, and Megh Raj Mittar.
Mann also commended SD College for its continued excellence in education and its role in shaping generations of achievers. “This institution has produced countless talented individuals who have excelled globally,” he said, expressing confidence that the college will continue its tradition of fostering academic and cultural excellence among Punjab’s youth.
