CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Hails PM Modi’s Launch of ₹35,440 Crore Agricultural Schemes as Historic Boost for Farmers

New Delhi, October 11, 2025: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching two flagship agricultural schemes — PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses — calling them a landmark moment in India’s agricultural development and a step toward ensuring prosperity and dignity for farmers.

In a post on X, CM Dhami wrote, “Today has brought a historic achievement in India’s agricultural history. The Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji has launched the ‘PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ and ‘Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission,’ thereby initiating a new chapter of prosperity and dignity in the lives of the country’s food providers. Through these schemes, new opportunities will open up in agricultural infrastructure, irrigation, storage, and crop diversity, bringing prosperity to every farmer’s field.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi unveiled the two schemes with a combined outlay of ₹35,440 crore. The initiatives aim to boost agricultural self-reliance, modernize rural infrastructure, and increase domestic pulses production to reduce import dependence.

Addressing a special Krishi programme, PM Modi said, “Today, two important schemes are being launched for the country’s self-reliance and the welfare of farmers — the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana and the Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission. These will transform the fortunes of millions of farmers in India. The government will spend more than ₹35,000 crore on these schemes.”

The launch coincided with the birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna awardees Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh. PM Modi paid homage to both leaders, calling them “the voice of rural India” and “pioneers of democratic revolution,” crediting their vision for inspiring India’s development model rooted in self-reliance and empowerment.

PM Modi also criticized the previous Congress-led governments for what he termed a “lack of vision” in the agricultural sector. He said, “Agriculture and farming have always been key parts of our development journey. Unfortunately, previous governments abandoned agriculture. Different departments worked in isolation, weakening the agricultural system.”

Highlighting his government’s efforts, the Prime Minister added that the BJP administration had implemented “countless reforms” to strengthen the farm sector, improve irrigation, enhance crop diversity, and expand market access for farmers. “The results of these reforms are visible today,” he said.

The twin schemes are expected to accelerate rural growth by improving storage facilities, supporting crop diversification, and boosting the country’s self-sufficiency in food grains and pulses — a key step toward achieving India’s broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
