Mumbai, October 7, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Mumbai on Wednesday, during which he will inaugurate key infrastructure projects, including the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of the Mumbai Metro 3 corridor. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Tuesday.
The visit will also see the launch of Mumbai One, a unified mobility app integrating 11 public transport systems across the metropolitan region. On Thursday, Modi will hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who will be in India on October 8–9 for his first official visit. The two leaders will also participate in the CEO Forum at Jio World Center and later deliver keynote addresses at the Global Fintech Fest.
According to the PMO, Modi will arrive in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon and proceed to inaugurate the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport — India’s largest greenfield aviation project built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore. Spread across 1,160 hectares, the airport is designed for high efficiency and sustainability and will ultimately handle 90 million passengers annually, along with 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the final stretch of the Mumbai Metro 3 line, running from Cuffe Parade to Worli. Developed at an estimated cost of ₹37,270 crore, the underground corridor is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Mumbai’s business districts.
As part of his digital mobility push, Modi will launch the Mumbai One app, which aims to create a seamless travel experience by connecting Mumbai Metro (Lines 1, 2A, 3 & 7), the Monorail, Suburban Railways, and municipal transport systems including BEST, Thane, Mira Bhayander, Kalyan Dombivli, and Navi Mumbai Transport services.
Additionally, he will inaugurate the Short Term Employability Programme (STEP), an initiative by the Maharashtra Skill Development Department that will provide training in emerging technologies across 400 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 150 government technical high schools.
During his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, both leaders are expected to review progress under the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss opportunities linked to the ongoing Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) negotiations.
