Ganesh Chaturthi to Be Celebrated on August 27 with Great Devotion Across India

New Delhi, August 25, 2025 – Ganesh Chaturthi, one of India’s most vibrant and widely celebrated festivals, will be observed this year on Wednesday, August 27. The festival, which honors the birth of Lord Ganesha, is marked by devotion, music, dance, and community celebrations across the country.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturthi Tithi begins on August 26 at 1:54 PM and concludes on August 27 at 3:44 PM. Devotees are preparing for grand festivities, with puja timings varying by city. In Mumbai, the auspicious window is from 11:24 AM to 1:55 PM, while in Delhi it falls between 11:05 AM and 1:40 PM. Kolkata will observe the puja earlier in the day, from 10:22 AM to 12:54 PM.

The 10-day celebration culminates with Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday, September 6, 2025, when idols of Lord Ganesha are immersed in rivers, lakes, and seas amid large processions, chants, and cultural performances.

The festival holds deep spiritual significance as it marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the God of wisdom and prosperity. Mythology traces the origin of Ganesha to Goddess Parvati, who created him from sandalwood paste to guard her. When Lord Shiva unknowingly beheaded him in anger, he later revived the boy with the head of an elephant, giving rise to the beloved deity worshipped today.

Ganesh Chaturthi is not only a religious event but also a cultural celebration that unites communities in devotion and joy, reinforcing its place as one of the most cherished Hindu festivals.
