Chandigarh, August 25, 2025: The Haryana Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution to pay heartfelt tribute to Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on his 350th martyrdom anniversary. The resolution was presented by Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
CM Saini highlighted the unparalleled sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, who laid down his life in November 1675 at Chandni Chowk, Delhi, to protect the right to freedom of faith and conscience. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s disciples Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala also embraced martyrdom, symbolizing steadfast courage and devotion.
The Chief Minister recalled the Guru’s role in defending the rights of Kashmiri Pandits, who sought his help against forced religious conversion, ensuring they could live with dignity and preserve their faith. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s travels in Haryana through Kurukshetra, Pihowa, Kaithal, Jind, Ambala, Chikka, and Rohtak left a lasting spiritual and cultural impact, marked by revered gurdwaras such as Gurudwara Shri Dharmtan Sahib in Jind and Gurudwara Shri Shishganj Sahib in Ambala.
The Assembly also remembered Bhai Jaita Ji, who courageously transported the Guru’s head from Delhi to Anandpur Sahib, and Shaheed Kushal Singh Dahiya of Badkhalasa village, who sacrificed his life to ensure the safe passage of the Guru’s head. CM Saini emphasized that the bravery and sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, his disciples, and Shaheed Kushal Singh Dahiya are not only proud chapters of national history but also enduring symbols of resistance against oppression and injustice.
The resolution stressed the importance of spreading the Guru’s timeless teachings across Haryana, fostering harmony, mutual respect, and the province’s proud tradition of brotherhood.
