Punjab Mourns as Sant Baba Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib Dies, CM Mann Pays Tribute

Chandigarh, August 25: Sant Baba Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib passed away on Monday, the same day that marked the 50th death anniversary of Sant Baba Ishar Singh Ji. The news was confirmed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who expressed deep grief and said Baba Baljinder Singh devoted his life to the Sikh Panth and the message of Gurbani.

An MA by qualification, Baba Baljinder Singh was known as a progressive saint who harmonized Sikh values with modern practices. He was instrumental in promoting education and skill development, supporting projects such as the conversion of Government College Karmasar into a technical institute, the launch of a B.Sc. Nursing course, a granthi training course through Guru Granth Sahib University, and several technical programs including plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and electrician training. These projects are now expected to be delayed following his demise.

Devotees remembered him as a visionary spiritual leader who guided the youth towards both education and spirituality. His ability to blend tradition with progress earned him widespread respect across Punjab.

Condolences poured in from political leaders and followers alike. Chief Minister Mann called him a “beacon of selfless service and Gurbani’s light,” emphasizing the void his death leaves in the Sikh community.
