Batala: Punjab Police have averted a possible terror strike after uncovering a cache of explosives and grenades in Batala’s Balpura village.
During the operation, police seized four hand grenades (SPL HGR-84), a 2 kg RDX-based IED, and wireless communication equipment. Officials revealed that the consignment was sent on the directions of UK-based BKI operative Nishan Singh, alias Nishan Jodia, who is said to be operating under the command of Pakistani handler Harvinder Singh Rinda, a known ISI-backed terrorist.
Police have taken one person into custody, while another suspect is still at large. A manhunt is in progress to track him.
Authorities said the recovery exposes yet another cross-border attempt to disturb Punjab’s stability. “We are committed to dismantling terror networks and ensuring the safety of every citizen,” officials stated, adding that further investigations are underway.
