Neighbor Attacks Lawyer, Family with Sword in Samrala; Three Injured

National Times Bureau :- Panic gripped Kapila Colony in Samrala on Tuesday morning after a neighbor allegedly attacked a lawyer and his family with a sword, leaving three people injured. The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m., police said.

According to the complaint, advocate Kultar Singh was leaving home on his bicycle when his neighbor, identified as Billu, allegedly assaulted him. When Singh’s wife, Manpreet Kaur, and mother, Sharanjit Kaur, rushed to his aid, the accused reportedly attacked them as well.

Kultar Singh sustained a deep head injury requiring two stitches, while Sharanjit Kaur suffered a severe wound near her ear that needed nine stitches. Manpreet Kaur sustained a fractured arm and multiple injuries across her body. All three are undergoing treatment at the Samrala Civil Hospital, where doctors have described their condition as stable.

The victim alleged that the accused had been harassing him for several days, loitering outside his house and using abusive language. Local residents claimed the accused is a habitual troublemaker and an addict, known for previous quarrels in the neighborhood.

Samrala SHO Pavittar Singh said the attack was captured on CCTV cameras. A case has been registered under charges including attempt to murder, and police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the absconding accused.
