PM Mark Carney Promotes 'Canada Strong Pass' During Visit to Greenwich Beach

Charlottetown, PEI (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Mark Carney has described Canada as “the greatest country in the world,” while highlighting the newly launched Canada Strong Pass, a program designed to help Canadians and visitors explore the country’s most breathtaking destinations.

During a visit to Greenwich Beach at PEI National Park this week, Carney joined the Parks Canada team to showcase the initiative and encourage Canadians to experience the natural beauty their country has to offer.

“Canada is the greatest country in the world. We created the Canada Strong Pass so you can see more of the most incredible parts of it — like Greenwich Beach at PEI National Park, which I visited with the Parks Canada team this week,” Carney said.

A Gateway to Canada’s Natural Wonders

The Canada Strong Pass is designed to make it easier for people to access national parks, historic sites, and iconic landmarks across the country. The program aims to promote domestic tourism while strengthening Canadians’ connection to their natural and cultural heritage.

Greenwich Beach, with its unique parabolic sand dunes, pristine shoreline, and extensive trail network, served as a fitting backdrop for the Prime Minister’s announcement.

Boosting Tourism and National Pride

The federal government hopes the initiative will give a significant boost to local economies by encouraging travel within Canada. Tourism operators and Parks Canada officials have expressed optimism that the program will increase visitor numbers, particularly in underexplored regions such as Prince Edward Island.

“We want Canadians to experience the wonder of their own country while supporting local communities and businesses,” Carney added.

Encouraging Exploration

The Canada Strong Pass is part of a broader push to make Canada’s parks and heritage sites more accessible to families and travelers. With discounted rates, exclusive packages, and a focus on highlighting lesser-known destinations, the pass is expected to become a key driver of domestic tourism in the coming years.

As Carney concluded his visit, he urged Canadians to take full advantage of the program:

“From coast to coast to coast, there’s no shortage of beauty, history, and adventure in this country. The Canada Strong Pass is your ticket to go and see it all.”
