Amritsar (National Times): In yet another decisive strike under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has successfully dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling module. The police apprehended one operative working under the directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler and recovered five pistols — 2 (9MM), 2 (.30 bore), and 1 (.32 bore).
The accused was intercepted while transporting the consignment after retrieving it near the Indo-Pak border.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the weapons were meant for criminals and gangsters to disrupt peace and harmony in Punjab. The police have registered an FIR at SSOC, Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to uncover the entire network and its cross-border linkages.
