Serious Crash Shuts Down Part of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge; Drivers Urged to Find Alternate Routes

Maple Ridge, B.C. (Rajeev Sharma): A significant stretch of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, remained closed Friday morning after a serious vehicle crash, prompting authorities to warn commuters of delays.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, eastbound lanes of Lougheed Highway are closed between 287th Street and Jim Robson Way. Additionally, 240th Street is fully shut down from River Road to Hill Avenue. DriveBC reported that one westbound lane of Lougheed Highway is also closed.

B.C. Emergency Health Services said two ambulances and multiple paramedics rushed to the crash at the intersection of 240th Street and Lougheed Highway shortly after 3 a.m. PT. However, no patients were transported to hospital.

Police have described the incident as a “serious motor vehicle incident” but have not released further details about what caused the crash or whether there were any injuries.

Photos from the scene depict a heavily damaged single vehicle, with its rear end lifted off the ground while the front appears nearly destroyed.

“The Ridge Meadows RCMP is requesting patience this morning; and asking for commuters to plan an alternative route,” police said in a statement issued around 5 a.m. PT.

Drivers in the area are being urged to expect significant delays during their morning commute as the investigation continues.
