Surrey (Rajeev Sharma): Popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly launched café in Surrey, British Columbia, became the scene of violence after unidentified gunmen opened fire on the building where the café operates.

In a significant development, notorious gangsters Harjit Singh Laddi and Kulbir Sidhu have claimed responsibility for the attack. Both individuals are reportedly linked to the Babbar Khalsa International Group, a designated terrorist organization, and are wanted by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) for multiple criminal activities.
Sources indicate the assailants arrived in a vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the premises before fleeing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among staff or customers, and the café sustained minimal structural damage.
Kapil Sharma, one of India’s most beloved comedians and television personalities, had inaugurated “Kap’s Café” only recently. The café quickly became a popular spot for fans and members of the local Indian community eager to experience a piece of Sharma’s brand abroad.
Canadian law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to confirm the identities of the shooters and determine the precise motive. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has not yet issued an official statement confirming the claims made by Laddi and Sidhu.
Security has been heightened around the café and surrounding businesses as a precaution, and authorities have urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Kapil Sharma has not yet released a personal statement regarding the incident. However, sources close to him said he was shocked by the attack and is monitoring developments closely while cooperating with Canadian authorities.
The motive behind targeting Kapil Sharma’s business remains unclear, and it’s uncertain whether the attack was meant as an act of extortion, intimidation, or to make a broader statement linked to the activities of Babbar Khalsa International.
Meanwhile, fans and well-wishers have flooded social media with messages of support for Sharma, expressing relief that no one was harmed and hoping the perpetrators will be brought to justice swiftly.
