National Times Bureau (Rajeev Sharma): Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has reignited controversy around the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, criticizing the absence of high-profile arrests even as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI officially closed investigations into the case.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk shared an image titled “Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter,” showing all zeroes, accompanied by the caption: “What’s the time? Oh look, it’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again.”
Musk’s post reflects lingering public frustration over the limited legal fallout following Epstein’s 2019 death, which was officially ruled a suicide. Despite years of speculation about powerful individuals possibly connected to Epstein’s activities, no further charges have been filed.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief’s comments also resurfaced a claim he made in June, asserting that “Trump is in the Epstein files,” further fueling debate over the reach of Epstein’s network and potential links to influential figures.
Musk’s renewed criticism coincides with the release of a memo from the DOJ and FBI, obtained by Axios, confirming that investigators found no evidence of a blackmail “client list” associated with Epstein’s sex trafficking operations. The memo concluded that no additional charges would be pursued against other individuals.
Earlier, figures like former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi had suggested the existence of such a list, leading to widespread speculation and conspiracy theories. However, the DOJ’s findings appear to shut the door on further prosecutions tied to Epstein’s case.
Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, continues serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex trafficking and related crimes.
Musk’s remarks highlight enduring skepticism among segments of the public who remain unconvinced that the full scope of Epstein’s connections—and any possible accomplices—has been thoroughly addressed.
