Walk or Stand After Meals to Fight Belly Fat, Says Nutritionist

New Delhi, July 5 — Stubborn belly fat, often the toughest hurdle in weight loss journeys, might finally have a simple solution, according to nutritionist Ruchi Sharmma, who shared an easy yet powerful tip in her latest social media post.

In a post on Instagram dated July 3, Ruchi revealed a “fat loss secret” that requires no extreme diets or intense workouts. Her advice: stand or walk after eating.

“Just standing or walking after a meal can lower your blood sugar by up to 30 per cent,” Ruchi noted, highlighting that even a brief stroll can be highly effective. “You don’t need long walks just a few minutes is enough.”

Her suggestion aligns with scientific findings. A 2022 study published in Sports Medicine found that walking for merely two to five minutes after meals significantly improves blood sugar levels. Even standing, though slightly less effective than walking, contributes to better glucose control.

For those tied to desk jobs or tight schedules, Ruchi offered an alternative: calf raises. “You can do them while brushing your teeth, sitting at your desk, or waiting for your food to heat up,” she said. Such small movements activate the soleus muscle in the lower leg, which plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar.

Why is this so important for belly fat?

“When your blood sugar is stable, insulin stays balanced, and your body remains in fat-burning mode,” explained Ruchi. “But when insulin spikes, your body stops burning fat. Over time, needing more insulin makes weight loss even harder.”

Her message underscores the power of small, consistent habits in achieving weight loss goals. “Little changes like this may not seem like much, but they can lead to big results over time,” she said.

As millions struggle with persistent abdominal fat, Ruchi’s practical advice offers a ray of hope for those seeking sustainable solutions without drastic lifestyle overhauls.
