Mumbai (National Times): The entertainment industry is in mourning after the sudden and untimely demise of actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, who shot to fame with the iconic 2002 music video ‘Kaanta Laga’. She was 42.
According to sources, Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai late Friday night by her husband Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival. The cause of death has not yet been made public. Her body has been moved to Cooper Hospital for postmortem examination.
Police officials are currently present at her residence, questioning domestic staff, including the cook and house help, as part of the routine investigation procedure in sudden deaths.
Shefali became a household name after her bold and trendsetting performance in ‘Kaanta Laga’, which turned her into a pop culture icon of the early 2000s. She later participated in Bigg Boss 13, where her composure, self-assurance, and strong personality left a mark on the audience.
In addition to her reality TV fame, Shefali had a brief but memorable appearance in the 2004 Bollywood hit ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ alongside Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. She was also seen on the dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye’ in seasons 5 and 7 with her husband Parag Tyagi, whom she married in 2015.
Tributes began pouring in from celebrities and fans alike. Singer Mika Singh expressed his grief, writing on social media, “I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend, Shefali Jariwala, has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti.”
Her death has sent shockwaves through the industry and left her fans heartbroken, with many remembering her as an entertainer who lit up every screen she appeared on.
