PM Modi to Embark on Five-Nation Tour from July 2, Attend BRICS Summit in Brazil

New Delhi, June 27, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a five-nation tour beginning July 2, aimed at strengthening India’s engagement with key nations of the Global South and attending the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil. The eight-day diplomatic tour will include visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit reflects India’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation on strategic and multilateral fronts.

In the first leg of the trip, PM Modi will visit Ghana from July 2 to 3 marking the first prime ministerial visit from India to the West African nation in over three decades. He will hold talks with the President of Ghana, focusing on strengthening cooperation in defence, energy, and economic sectors.

Following that, Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago from July 3 to 4 the first such visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 1999. He is scheduled to meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and will address a joint session of Parliament. The MEA said the visit is expected to renew historical ties and give fresh momentum to bilateral relations.

From July 4 to 5, Modi will be in Argentina, where he will hold wide-ranging discussions with President Javier Milei. Talks will center on deepening cooperation in areas including agriculture, defence, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, and trade.

Modi’s fourth stop will be Brazil, where he will attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 5 to 8, at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This will also include a bilateral state visit. It marks Modi’s fourth visit to Brazil as Prime Minister.

At the BRICS summit, discussions will focus on reforming global governance, responsible use of artificial intelligence, strengthening multilateralism, climate change, global health, economic development, and peace and security.

In the final leg of the tour, Modi will visit Namibia, becoming the third Indian Prime Minister to do so. He will hold bilateral talks with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, with the agenda expected to include development cooperation, wildlife conservation, and capacity building.

The MEA said the visit underlines India’s growing partnership with countries in Latin America and Africa, in line with its vision of an inclusive, multipolar global order.
