Every Bidder Will Be Provided Full Security; Administration and Police Given Strict Orders
Chandigarh, June 24 – Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Dr. Sumita Mishra, has assured all prospective bidders of full administrative support and security for the upcoming liquor shop auctions in the state. She urged participants to take part without fear and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance toward any form of intimidation or interference.
Chairing a law and order review meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and District Excise & Taxation Commissioners (DETCs) of Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Jind, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, and Ambala districts, Dr. Mishra emphasized that anyone trying to obstruct the lawful auction process would face strict consequences.
“The government firmly stands with law-abiding bidders. No one should be afraid or discouraged from participating in this legitimate government process. We will ensure the safety of every individual involved,” she stated.
Addressing reports of possible collusion between local goons and anti-social elements aiming to intimidate participants, Dr. Mishra directed police and intelligence agencies to immediately identify such individuals. She ordered the district intelligence units to compile detailed profiles of habitual offenders and keep a close watch on their activities. The police were instructed to stay alert to suspicious movements or gatherings of people and vehicles near auction venues.
To build confidence among bidders, Dr. Mishra instructed DCs and SPs to engage directly with participants, listen to their concerns, and assure them of a robust law-and-order framework. She underscored that district officers must proactively reach out and eliminate any doubts regarding safety.
“No one will be allowed to derail the liquor shop auction process,” she affirmed. Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy, Dr. Mishra warned that any laxity or collusion by officials would lead to strict departmental action. “There can be no compromise with the integrity of the auction process,” she added.
She also emphasized the need for video surveillance at auction sites, deployment of additional police forces in sensitive areas, and close coordination with excise department officials to ensure smooth and transparent operations.
The meeting was also attended by Excise & Taxation Commissioner and Secretary Ms. Ashima Brar, Excise & Taxation Commissioner Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, and ADGP (Law & Order) Mr. Sanjay Kumar, along with other senior officials.
