IGNOU Begins Admission for July 2025 Session; DEB ID Mandatory for Enrollment

Chandigarh, June 23 – Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially started the admission process for the July 2025 session, with a key update: a DEB ID is now mandatory for students enrolling in any Open and Distance Learning (ODL) or Online (OL) programs, as per new UGC-DEB guidelines.

According to a university spokesperson, IGNOU continues its mission to deliver quality higher education to students in remote and rural areas, ensuring equal opportunities for educational advancement.

The University Grants Commission–Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) has mandated that all domestic learners (excluding international students) must generate a DEB ID using their ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credits ID) prior to enrollment in any ODL or online course.

Students can create their ABC ID using their Aadhaar or PAN card by visiting any of the following platforms:

UGC-DEB Portal

DigiLocker

Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)

To apply for IGNOU courses, prospective students should visit the official website www.ignou.ac.in, click on the Fresh Admission link on the homepage, enter their DEB ID, personal details such as email ID and mobile number, upload the required documents, and pay the admission fee online using a debit or credit card.

Admissions are open for certificate, diploma, postgraduate diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs, and the last date to apply is July 15, 2025.
