Hindu Society of Calgary Hosts Empowering Cultural Awareness Session with Calgary Police

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma):  The Hindu Society of Calgary (HSC) recently organized an informative session aimed at educating attendees from different religions about Hindu community rituals, the profound significance of religious symbols, traditional attire, and their underlying values.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from members of the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and representatives from various organizations, fostering a spirit of cultural understanding, community engagement, and mutual respect.


During the session, CPS representative Ranbir Randhawa, on behalf of his team, engaged in a thoughtful Q&A, inquiring about various Hindu practices and symbols such as the bindi, tilak, mauli (sacred thread), and swastik.  HSC President Rajesh Punj, Chairman Lokesh Sharma, and their dedicated team provided detailed insights into these practices, explaining their relevance in contemporary society and inspiring a deeper appreciation for diversity.
Such initiatives underscore the society’s commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, enhancing mutual respect, and celebrating the rich tapestry of diverse communities in Calgary.
